Our History

The Ardmart opened its doors in Ardmore, PA in 1974 as an antiques & collectables mall and it quickly grew to over 75 professional dealers. Owners Ken & Erma Schaffer made their first big expansion in 1987 moving to the corner of State Road & Lansdowne Avenue in the heart of Drexel Hill, PA where the business flourished for 25 years. The Schaffer’s dream of owning their own property became a reality in 2012 when they purchased their current property in Garnet Valley, PA, just minutes from the intersection of US Routes 1 & 202 and one mile from the famous Booths Corner Market. This final move solidified their legacy as true experts at the top of their profession and a staple in the community by growing the Ardmart into Delaware County’s most unique and respected variety store.

In 2020, due to an ever growing demand for online shopping and uncertainty in the retail market from the Covid 19 pandemic, Ken Schaffer shifted the stores focus to an “all new” online platform making it more convenient for buyers, sellers and curiosity seekers to experience all that the Ardmart has to offer. Although buying tastes and habits have changed dramatically in recent years, the Schaffer’s 45+ years of dealing in “vintage” items remains intact with an expansion into a much broader variety of items including retro, contemporary and second hand merchandise satisfying all ages, styles and budgets. The store’s massive inventory fills over 7,500 square feet of space and consists of thousands of items both big and small, and in almost every category imaginable.

Whether you are an avid collector looking for that authentic specialty item online or a casual shopper just trying to enjoy a day of inspirational browsing, we are sure you will find the Ardmart to be a true hidden gem. We look forward to adding you to our growing family of loyal customers so that we can share our life’s journey and love for buying and selling collectibles with you, keeping you coming back online or in person, time and time again!

Our physical location hours are limited and by appointment only due to Covid 19 restrictions but our online store is open 24/7.
